Running Ethical Schoolwear has always been more than just a business for me. It's a mission to provide quality, ethically-sourced products that parents can trust, and to make a positive impact on our planet. But now, I'm thrilled to announce that I’ve found a new business partner who embodies the spirit of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Allow me to introduce you to Newton, the newt.
Discovering Newton
Today, while I was out clearing away grass from the base of the young saplings I've planted, I made a delightful discovery. Nestled among the greenery was a tiny newt. His presence was a gentle reminder of the intricate web of life that thrives around us, often unnoticed. I decided to name him Newton, in honour of both his curious and thoughtful demeanour, and a nod to the great scientist who spent much time in nature, contemplating the laws of the universe.
Newton's Role in My Business
Newton might be small, but his impact on my business philosophy is set to be enormous. Inspired by Faith In Nature, which appointed a non-executive director to represent Nature on their board, I've decided to include Newton in every decision I make for my online shop. From product selection to packaging choices, and even marketing strategies, I will ask myself: What would Newton do?
This simple question will guide me to make choices that respect and protect the natural world, ensuring that every step I take is in harmony with the environment. Newton’s presence is a constant reminder that our actions, no matter how small, have a significant impact on the ecosystem.
Planting Trees with Every Order
One of the cornerstones of my business is planting a tree for every order received. This initiative not only helps to offset carbon emissions but also supports local wildlife. Newton’s discovery has given this project an even deeper meaning. As I continue to nurture these trees, I will think of him and the countless other creatures that benefit from a healthy environment. Each sapling represents a step towards a more sustainable future, and now, it also symbolises Newton's enduring legacy.
